This seven-story structure was constructed with an economical combination of precast concrete, masonry and cast-in-place concrete. Located adjacent to an existing jail, courts, and other county administrative offices, the 7-story Pierce County Detention and Corrections Center in Tacoma used prestressed hollow core slabs. Bearing on precast beams and columns, the slabs are used for the floors. Interior walls are CMU, and the exterior walls are cast-in-place concrete.
