Located adjacent to an existing jail, courts, and other county administrative offices, the 7-story Pierce County Detention and Corrections Center in Tacoma was constructed with an economical combination of precast concrete, masonry and cast-in-place concrete.
Prestressed hollow core slabs, bearing on precast beams and columns, are used for the floors; interior walls are CMU, and the exterior walls are cast-in-place concrete.

Rapid Construction - Precast floor system allowed for rapid construction of two weeks per floor.
No Shoring - No shoring was required for the floor system, thus providing an immediate work platform for other trades.
Smooth Surface - Superior finish of factory-cast beams and columns were paintable "as cast" with minimal on-site surface preparation.
